Black Pelican Seafood Company Greenbrier Catering

Black Pelican has been serving the Outer Banks, Northeast North Carolina for over 20 years and the Hampton Roads area since 2015. You may recognize it as the iconic restaurant located on the Ocean front in the Outer Banks of North Carolina which was featured on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives.

We provide professional service at your preferred location, or on-site in one of our two event rooms. We specialize in catering Corporate Functions, Weddings, Social Events, and Personal Chef Events.

A special event requires special attention! We personally make sure your event runs smoothly from start to finish. We will guide you through the planning process and customize a menu to accommodate any budget. We look forward to hearing from you about your upcoming event!

The Process

During the first meeting with Black Pelican Greenbrier Catering, we will go over how you envision your special day! We will discuss the menu, venue location and coordinate with any other vendors.

After the initial consultation, we will provide you with a detailed function proposal with all your menu selections and an itemized payment form for your review.

The second meeting will include a private tasting with your personalized menu selections. We want to assure everything is perfect for your day.

A month prior to your event, there will be a final meeting. At that time, we will finalize all menu items and review your timeline.

We are very excited about your upcoming event and look forward to serving you on this special day.

Fresh Fishes

Tuna

Medium to mild flavor with a very firm texture. The raw flesh is deep
red in color and is often used for sashimi

Recommended Preparations:

– Grilled with Bacon, Sweet Corn and fresh Mozzarella Sauté

Swordfish

Mildly sweet flavor and a moist meaty texture with a moderately high fat content. Flesh can range from white or ivory to pink or orange.

Recommended Preparations:
– Ala Oscar: Asparagus, Crabmeat and Hollandaise sauce
– Ala OBX: Blackened with Carolina Roasted Corn Salsa
– Ala Maui: Sesame seared, Wasabi aioli, sweet chili sauce and mango-pineapple chutney

Mahi Mahi

Lean flesh with a mild sweet flavor profile. Moderately firm texture and
large, moist flakes. Alternate names: Dolphin, Dorado

Recommended Preparations:
– Ala OBX: Blackened with Carolina Roasted Corn Salsa
– Ala Maui: Sesame seared, Wasabi aioli, sweet chili sauce and mango-pineapple chutney

Salmon

Fabulously full flavored fish with a high fat content which contributes to
its rich flavor. The flesh has a firm texture with medium sized flakes and
ranges in color from orange to deep red.

Recommended Preparations:
– Grilled or broiled with Old Bay Lemon Butter
– Grilled or broiled with Picatta Crab Sauce
– Ala Greek: spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, feta and balsamic

Wahoo

Mild and sweet tasting with a firm texture, moderate fat and
large circular flakes. White colored flesh that remains white when cooked. Alternative name: Ono

Recommended Preparation:
– Ala Oscar: Asparagus, Crabmeat and Hollandaise sauce
– Ala OBX: Blackened with Carolina Roasted Corn Salsa
– Ala Maui: Sesame seared, Wasabi aioli, sweet chili sauce and mango-pineapple chutney

Cobia

White colored large flake flesh that is firm in texture and mild in flavor.

Recommended Preparations:
– Ala OBX: Blackened with Carolina Roasted Corn Salsa
– Ala Maui: Sesame Seared, Wasabi Aioli, Sweet Chili Sauce and Mango-Pineapple Chutney
– Grilled with Bacon, Sweet Corn and fresh Mozzarella Sauté

Rockfish

Light colored flesh with firm, large flakes and a mild,
delicate flavor. Alternate names: Striped Bass

Flounder

Mild sweet flavor. White flesh has a delicate texture with small flakes.
Alternate names: Fluke, Summer Flounder

Recommended Preparations:
– In Parchment with Julienne Vegetables and Citrus Herb Butter
– Broiled or fried

*All fishes can be prepared grilled or blackened, except Flounder
